Breaking the Cycle of Poverty, One Child at a Time

Picture
Everyone deserves a chance to become someone and do something with his or her life. Some kids they never get that chance to excel because of the family or socio-economic situation they are born into. We at The Stars of Tomorrow want to give these children the chance they otherwise will never have. Without both our help and your's the youth we work will not attend school, play soccer, learn to surf, or go on to be active members of their communities simply because they don't have the financial resources. Below you can see a short description of the various programs we currently offer.

Soccer

Have you ever been to a Latin American town and not seen someone kicking a soccer ball around? We haven't either. Soccer is a huge part of Latin American culture and a major corner stone of our program. Soccer creates a foundation for our young participants to grow both athletically and personally. They learn many different life skills through the practice and games we facilitate for them. Many of these kids will never be able to afford a soccer ball, and that is why we provide them with ALL of the necessary equipment, coaching, and guidance that they will ever need.

Surfing

Our surfing program is not up and running yet, but we hope to have enough support by the beginning of 2014.

English Tutoring

What would you think if I told you that speaking English would double your chances of getting a job? That is the honest truth for these kids living in an eco-tourism dependent country and a world where English is the common language. We know that life is tough and making it easier is our goal. That is why we offer and require all of our participants to partake in English tutoring and homework study sessions. Knowing more than one language creates opportunities and we believe that this opportunity shouldn't be reserved for those who can afford special bilingual schools; rather, it should be available to anyone with the willingness and desire to learn.

Community Service

We do various community activities such as beach clean ups, restoration of children's parks, soccer field maintenance, and so much more. :)

Breakfast Program

We are looking to get our free breakfast program up and running by summer of 2013. We plan to provide breakfast daily for 60 kids initially.
